Music Massage and Movement

These weekly sessions are for active babies to pre-schoolers, roughly six months to two years.  Parents learn a massage routine (performed through the clothes in the class) supported with songs, play and movement.  The songs are a mixture of traditional rhymes adapted for the massage and new songs such as Go to Sleep and the Tidy Up Tune.

The emphasis on movement includes both gentle exercises and dance (to a variety of different types of music).  Children under two enjoy moving and being moved. It is a way they find out more about their own bodies, the world around them, about their relationships with others and about themselves.  After a fun time moving about children and parents are encouraged to relax with some peaceful music.

Each week there is a different sensory experience for the parent and child to share, from scarves to bubbles to feathers.  The children will also be able to explore a treasure basket - a collection of everyday objects chosen to stimulate the different senses.  This gives little ones the chance to explore and decide for themselves what they want to play with.

Benefits of Music, Massage & Movement classes:

  •  Songs develop language skills: repetitive words lay down speech patterns and build confidence; action songs aid coordination  and memory.

  • Gentle exercises and games encourage physical coordination, flexibility and good posture.

  • Opportunity to meet other parents and children in a fun environment.
